A life of service to Birmingham.
Mohammed Ali — known to his communities as Mr Ali — has spent decades organising, advocating and turning up for the people of east Birmingham.

- Rooted in: East Birmingham — Hodge Hill, Alum Rock, Ward End
- Profession: Healthcare Engagement Manager
- Public voice: Aap Ki Awaaz Radio Birmingham
- Founder: JABS B8 FC youth football
Community first, always.
Mr Ali has lived almost his entire life in east Birmingham. The neighbourhoods of Alum Rock, Hodge Hill, Bromford and Ward End aren't a constituency to him — they're family, school runs, shop owners he greets by name, friends from the mosque and football coaches he's known for decades.
A science graduate of the University of Wolverhampton and a former science teacher at Windsor High School, he carried that same belief in education into a senior career in the pharmaceutical industry — currently as an Oncology Healthcare Engagement Manager at Bayer, where he works to improve cancer care across the Midlands.
Outside of work, Mr Ali is a tireless community organiser. Through the Alum Rock Community Forum, he has championed local residents on housing, safety and youth provision. He is a founding-era figure behind the much-loved community hub The Base, and the founder of JABS B8 FC — a junior football academy giving hundreds of local young people structure, mentorship and pride. JABS B8 FC has been recognised with the WMPCC Community Award.
As a presenter on Aap Ki Awaaz Radio Birmingham, he brings community wellbeing, public-health information and civic conversation into homes across the city — in English, Urdu, Punjabi and more. During the pandemic, his vaccine-confidence work was profiled by the Birmingham Mail; in 2025 and 2026 he has been a leading voice for Heartlands Hospital Charity, helping raise tens of thousands of pounds for the new cancer centre.
Mr Ali is best understood as a grassroots organiser and community connector — someone who combines a healthcare professional's discipline with a neighbour's instinct. His leadership is built not on titles, but on service: showing up, listening hard, and getting things done.
