Why I Chose Independent Community Leadership

After many years inside party politics, I made a clear decision: my first loyalty is to the people of East Birmingham, not to any party machine. Independence is not a rejection of politics. It is a return to its first principle — public service.

Independent community leadership means I am free to say what I see, to back what is right regardless of where the idea comes from, and to put community interests ahead of party interests. It is harder. It is lonelier at times. It is also honest.

I would rather lose with my conscience intact than win with it surrendered.
